New beginnings, clean house.

After a fallow period artistically (pretty much the whole summer and early fall); my mojo is back!

I've been holding a 3/panel piece in my mind for 7 or 8 months, but didn't know what I wanted to do for the background - I finally dreamt it last Wednesday night. On Thursday, I bought ten yards of cotton muslin and painted it all, and after a dry and a wash and another dry and hours of ironing, it's ready to begin.

While that drying and washing was going on, I was painting the background for yet another piece...

All of which has nothing to do with what I'm showing you today - because my blog is two weeks behind my production.

So what I'm showing you today is the beginning of another small piece that I was making for the show and sale I was going to participate it - I say "was going to" because I decided not to participate in it. Most of the other people are crafters and jewellers, so I decided my work wasn't a good fit the show.

Speaking of other housekeeping, you'll note that I now have my name watermarked on all my photos. I really hate the way it looks, but a friend notified that me someone had taken Red Bench No.1 and posted it to Pinterest with no credit whatsoever, and NO linkbacks, and then when I chased the original pinner down as well as the re-pinners to ask them to please give credit to me, Pinterest blocked me from making comments!
!!!!!

So, I also now added the "no pinning" code to my blog. I know I can't stop people from pinning for real (they can, and do steal work from my tumblr and from Flickr as well), but I am hopeful that most people, encountering the "no pin please" thing on my blog, will not do so. So, I apologize for the watermarking, but, chasing them all down was a big pain, and now I can't anyway.

In other sewing news, I also made two more suits this weekend, one a turquoise green corduroy (casual, kimono-like top and skirt, and the other a fitted, heavy wool-linen blend that I'm wearing to work today, actually.) and all this, despite the fact that I was sick as a dog on Friday. Mojo runing? CHECK. lol

Of course, now my studio looks like a fabric bomb went off in here!

And how was YOUR weekend?

  1. Nice to hear you're back in the groove!

Don't get me started on the evil Pinterest. I should be nicer, though. If you fill out their DMCA copyright violation form, they respond and remove the stolen images really quickly.

  2. I watermark every single photo that I post on my blog, no matter how small or trivial it may be. The internet is what it is, so it is better to try and work with the system. I consider it to be free advertising when people pin or re-post my photos, and I am flattered when it happens. AND, it brings me measurable traffic.

I'd love to see those suits you made! I'm very impressed with your industry. :D

  3. What a busy time you've had. The painted fabric looks so good.

Watermarking is definitely a good idea.

  4. Good for you about watermarking. I have always been a "no-pin" person. I have not liked Pinerest from the get go. And yes, how about a peak at those suits?????

  5. Kit, you must be related to Judy...both of you have family lineage that leads back to the Energizer Bunny!

  6. I think the watermark looks fine. It's the only way to go these days. And I love the colorway and fabrics you've chosen for your latest work in progress.
