On Wednesday, I decided to start making another bird - no small surprise there as I have to have ten done by the end of the month and this will be number 6.
Of course, like the crazy person I am, I decided to make one that had a tonne of fluffy foliage around it. 'Cuz I like handwork so much! (Doh!) So,
I started out with one of my painted cloths. Yes, I'm still using leftover paints from my larger pieces to make them, but now I'm making them deliberately - waiting until the project is done and then actually painting the cloth with them. I'm really enjoying the results!
After cutting off a piece for this background, I quilted it. And see that charcoal line? That was my guide for the hand stitching.
I estimate... four more layers before the foliage is done. <sigh>
Have a great weekend, and see you on Monday!
P.S. - If you missed it on Wednesday, I'm doing a giveaway!
Wow - Yes, you are a glutton for punishment. ;D But that is going to be so very cool.
ReplyDeleteNot a fan of handwork? Or is there just too much of it to do on this piece? Lovin' that painted background, btw...Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteA lot of work but it's going to be beautiful when you're done. I love the painted background too.
ReplyDeletehang in there - it will be worth it in the end :)
ReplyDeleteah, but it lifts and enlivens it so much. Do it in front of tubage :)--that way your mind is occupied (semi depending on what you're watching!) and your hands are as well: muscle memory will takeover!
ReplyDeleteI love "clean-up clothes" myself. Mine are made with dye though but the results look the same!! I like the "tubage" comment. Also keeps those hands from "snacking" while sitting - my go to activity!!
ReplyDeleteThis will be stunning when done. I love the background and all the hand stitching. Can't wait to see the finished piece.
