Do any of you remember the Bobbsey Twins, or am I seriously dating myself?
As I was making these two, I couldn't help but be reminded of them - I really loved those books when I was a little girl...
and they made me desperately want a fraternal twin! (I didn't like Flossie and Fred much though, so I was glad to not have a younger set.)
I pretty much had a fraternal twin though, given one of my brothers is 9 months and 8 days older than I am. (Don't freak out, we're adopted! lol) But we were pretty darn close...
Still, not a twin!
However, I guess these two are a post-modern version of Nan and Bert - given that they're a: Black, and b: have something very different to say than Nan and Bert might have!
Wanna know what they have to say? Come back on Friday!
See you then...
I cut my teeth on those books....good old Freddie and Flossie. and of course Nan and Burt. I didn't even have to think about the names. Oh how I loved those books,
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of the Bobbsey Twins - I think we had Topsy and Tim instead!! Its not so much a generational thing as an Atlantic thing? All that water between us?
ReplyDeleteI DO remember the Bobbsey Twins. Those were the days.
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of the Bobbsey Twins either! It must be all that water!
ReplyDeleteDo we need to be worried? :)
ReplyDeleteNot only do I remeber the Bobbsey twin but, like you, I desparately wanted to be a twin! And, yes, I did like Nan and Bert much better than Freddie and Flossie. (Flossie always reminded me a bit of Amy in Little Women and I wasn't fond of her, either!)
ReplyDeleteI loved the Bobbsey Twins! They got into the best kind of trouble. :) Your twins are looking very cool, Kit. Look forward to the reveal on Friday.
ReplyDeleteLoved those books! Discovered to my pure joy that our neighbours at the cottage had the entire set (at the time -- ca. 1960) and I read 'em all in a single summer. Kinda identified with Nan (dark hair, heaven knows what else!)...Wonder what your twins will say!
ReplyDeleteAh yes, the Bobbsey Twins, Five Little Peppers..., Little Women, Nancy Drew, The Hardy Boys, etc...
ReplyDeleteI am waiting with baited breath or as my crazy friend Jim says, "worms on tongue"
ReplyDeleteMaybe I should check the Bobbsey Twins out ;-)) will be fun to see what you're up to this time !!
ReplyDeleteToo funny. You're such a tease! See you tomorrow...
ReplyDeleteYes I remember the Bobbsey Twins. I loved those books when I was little. Now what are your twins going to say:) I'll be back to see.
