Long weekend's work

In Canada, Queen Victoria's birthday, May 24th,or its near environs is a federal holiday, giving us a long weekend.  I had lots of plans for work in my sewing room this weekend, but after literally weeks of rain every single day, Saturday dawned sunny and warm;

and since the world was supposed to end (*hee*) BSP and I decided to head out and play in the sunshine. After a day of walking, cycling, eating ice cream on benches and wandering through Chinatown; I was far too tired to spend much time in the sewing room, so after sorting through my recent hand dyed and painted fabrics in to like colour piles,

I called it a day.

On Sunday, a day that was predicted to be full of thunder showers and 20mm of rain; it was warm and sunny once more. We had a golf date with friends for Monday (predicted to be thunder showery again) and thought we would miss it, so we went out and played golf, and then came home and worked in the garden, and then fell into bed, pooped.

And then today - cataclysmic thunderstorms were called for, and we woke to the sun shining, the birds singing and a golf date that was going ahead.  We headed North, where (literally) the deer and assorted woodland creatures play; and we joined them on the golf course.  Stunning day, and pretty good golf - I shaved six strokes off my usual game although the course was more difficult than usual.

And then when we got home after a late lunch, I had a nap; and then went down to my sewing room, where I started playing with some of my hand dyes. I put them together in ways that were pleasing to me, and needled felted them together. And then I trimmed and batted it up and pulled some threads for quilting.

I'm not sure exactly what this is becoming, but it will make itself clear to me at some point, I'm sure.

And what have you been up to?  Link up in the comments!

  3. How cool! you needle-felted your hand-dyed cottons together - and that works?? If you say yes now, I'll have to give that a try ASAP ;-))

    Frauke, yes. :) I do it all the time since I got the fliffer floffer. It doesn't hold them together with any permanancy, but well enough that I can make a top without any seams if I don't want it to have any. I wouldn't try it on a full size quilt though! This one is only 21 by 19 or so.
