Oscar

Well...

It's not a finished quilt, but it is a finish!  This weekend, instead of working on my quilt(s), I decided to re-organize my sewing room. It looked like a bomb had gone off in there, and I wasn't enjoying the set up.  After re-folding my stash (so it doesn't get fold lines), re-organizing my bins and bins and bins (!) of scraps; I was finally ready to sew.

BSP requested a new pair of pajamas (and since BSP unfailing not only gives me whatever I want but often anticipates my wants) I couldn't deny such a small request. And then I thought it would be fun (and cute) to make myself a nightie out of the same fabric. I didn't let the fact that I didn't have a pattern for a nightgown deter me, I just went for it; and I made a very pretty nightgown. So pretty in fact, that BSP and I decided that I should save it, and wear it as a summer dress instead.

(I love the handles on this bag.  Not evident from the picture, is that they're incredibly sturdy.  The pink satin strip was four inches wide, which I fused to interfacing, and then folded so that the outsides met in the middle, and then folded in half.  Those handles are fantastically sturdy now!)

After all that, I knew I wouldn't have time to finish a quilt. However, I decided I did have time to make a tote bag while watching the Oscars. And so I did, and I called it "Oscar".

The bag is made entirely of scraps.

I really like the stacked coins in the middle and may use this again!

Oscar is 16 x 14 and 4 inches wide.

  2. Hey Kit, Cute tote. Don't you know refolding fabric cuts into sewing time? Have a great week filled with more sewing and less folding!
