Zoopendus!

After finishing Coneflowers in Leslieville on Saturday, on Sunday I rested. *selah*

On Monday, I wanted something quick and easy. Since my orange project, though easy, is definitely not quick; I decided to start something new. I've had a baby quilt percolating in my head for awhile now (two actually) so I decided to start on the first one.

I had about a yard left of a nnifty animal print flannel, so I appliqued it (my first attempt!)  into a centre panel, bordered by ribbon.

and judiciously used the rest of the yard along with some yellow flannel for the side panels and the back:

It was a simple little quilt - about four hours on Monday night and another four hours tonight - but I think it's really cute. And I love the quilting, even if I do say so myself!

It hasn't been washed yet, because I was anxious to post this baby, but I can't wait to see what it'll look like once it's shrunk up a bit. It'll tighten it up nicely, and maybe get rid of a bit of the wonkyness. (Although I actually like the wonkyness in ths one.)

I used two ribbions in this project: a silky narrow blue for the back, and this pretty bright green grosgrain ribbon that was originally on a birthday present I received last year.

The green ribbon says "laugh at the rules, agree with your imagination, let yourself daydream, colour outside the lines". I think those are perfect messages for a new being in our world. :)

And hey, speaking of birthdays - mine is this Friday. The reason I'm telling you that is because.... although it's my birthday, I'm going to give you a present.

I noticed the other day that I've gained quite a few followers in the last month or so (welcome, welcome!) and I was pleased and amazed to see how many of you care to do so. I truly am amazed - it's a HUGE blog-a-verse out there, and you've got a gajillion people to choose from; so the fact that you've a: found me at all, and b: are interested enough to regularly pay attention to me, is truly a blessing for which I am so very grateful. Your support and encouragment mean so much to me!

So this giveaway is going to be for my followers only.

Each of you will get an automatic entry without having to do anything, but if you'd like to earn an extra entry, just comment to my birthday post, this Friday, September 4, when I'll tell what you can win.

Now that that bit of business is taken care of, here's that finished baby quilt I've been blathering about - 43 x 47 inches - called "Zoopendus!"

Hope you like it.

See you Friday!

  4. Oh, it looks really cuddly! Such a cute baby quilt! I love the quilting you did. I've been trying to urge my husband to try that freehand quilting, but he's sticking to his (complicated and very pretty) pantos for now. You inspire me!
